About
Michael Holmes is a Musician and Up-and-coming Game Developer originally from Perth, Australia, and currently living and working as a game developer in Tokyo, Japan, where he has lived for almost four years.
Having previously studied music composition and technology at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), he came to Japan to pursue his passion for making video games, first spending a year at a Japanese Language institution before spending two years undertaking Game Creator Studies at Nippon Engineering College.
Since graduating, he has been further building up his skills in working for a small developer team in Tokyo.
When writing a program and developing a game or other software, Holmes is highly creative and shows great attention to detail, always putting great emphasis on efficiency to ensure that a framework he deals with is as simple as possible so that it can be easily expanded upon into a fully fledged work of art.
He primarily uses Unity in conjunction with C# but is more than willing to step outside the box and challenge tasks even in sparsely documented areas.
Holmes' enthusiasm is not limited to games. While taking a particular interest in audio design, he enjoys working with all kinds of media, particularly 3D modelling and, 2D illustration and visual effects, not to mention his main forte that is game development.
He is a longtime user of Propellerhead Reason, which he uses to compose and produce music as well as create sound effects for games. In addition, he is also capable of working with Blender 3D and Clip Studio Paint, and is capable of quickly learning software that is new to him.
Finally, he is nearly as fluent in Japanese as he is in his mother tongue, English.
With an adventurous spirit, Holmes is ready and willing to take on virtually any kind of task, and is awaiting your interest in his contribution.
