I love solving all kinds of complex tasks related to software design, architecture and performance. I possess a deep knowledge of how computer system works, from bare metal aspects to software architecture, distributed systems, large-scale databases and interaction between components. Knowledge and experience lets me both analyse any visible and invisible problems and find solutions for them, as well as design complex software systems.

My passions are: design and administration of databases (SQL/NoSQL) of any scale, big data processing, data engineering, highload systems, software architecture & design, diagnostics and solution to performance problems, both hardware- and application design-related.

I posses extensive skills and experience both in system administration of Linux & Unix systems (RHEL & derivatives, Debian, Solaris) and software development (backend, Python & C are primary languages I use for development).

I have lots of practical experience about hardware tuning & optimizations, storage systems, virtualization and containers. Networks (organization, management, TC & filtering, routing, VPNs) and web technologies (servers, proxying & caching, load balancers, application servers integration, performance diagnostics).

In the past I did system-level programming (using POSIX and Linux-specific APIs) and worked with IPC, multithreading, network programming, soft realtime.

More recently, I switched to application programming (backend) and architecture designs: client/server, highload systems, microservices, messaging and streaming, cluster systems and failsafe designs. I also do performance monitoring, profiling, metrics & alerts integration (Prometheus, Sentry, etc).

More than 10 years of experience working with databases allows me to do expert-level DBA tasks, as well as design and development of SQL databases. Optimizations, finding and fixing critical spots, maintenance & scaling, partitioning and sharding, failsafe designs (replication & standby, PITR) are things I have lots of knowledge and experience about.

I also work a lot with NoSQL databases - key/value and Bigtable designs, creating architecture suitable for handling big data, data engineering, complex ETL pipelines. I've handled multiple complex SQL -> NoSQL migrations and SQL/NoSQL integration in various projects.
