I fix the Excel and VBA programs your business runs on today, and when a process has outgrown the spreadsheet, I move it to the right tool: Power Query, a SQL Server or Access database, Office Scripts and Power Automate, a web form, or AI where it saves real time.

Today: if a macro broke, runs for an hour, or was written by someone who has moved on, I take it over and get it working again: 32/64-bit errors, OneDrive and SharePoint paths, sheets that broke when rows or tables were added, files that crash or crawl. Quick fixes are welcome, and small tools usually have a first working version the same day or within one to two days.

Tomorrow: once it works, we look at whether that process should stay in Excel. The signs it has outgrown the spreadsheet are familiar: several people editing copies of one file, the same data typed into three places, an export pasted in by hand every week, a file near its size limit. Then I move that one process, one step at a time, while your business keeps running:

• Power Query in place of copy and paste and fragile import macros
• A SQL Server or Access database in place of a workbook that holds your records, with Excel kept for the reports people already know
• Office Scripts and Power Automate for files that live in OneDrive, SharePoint or Teams, where VBA macros do not run in the browser
• A web form in place of a workbook emailed around for data entry
• AI for the steps it does well, like reading incoming documents or drafting a first summary, with a person checking the result

Sometimes the honest answer is that Excel is still the right tool. Then I fix it, make it faster, and leave it.

Systems I've moved or connected for clients:

• An auction database of 1.8 million records moved from Access to SQL Server Express when it hit Access's 2 GB limit
• Data pulled from about 8,900 audit workbooks without opening each file, into tables ready for an Access database
• A 40,000-product catalog synced with the website export for an industrial fastener distributor, with a one-click Undo
• QuickBooks import files for contractors, and billing-system import files for a waste-hauling and recycling group, a long-term client
• A real estate market report generator: MLS data in, PowerPoint report, written summary and social-media images out
• A PDF case package generator for a law firm's collection cases, run in batches of about 150 cases
