About
I help companies build Unity applications across architecture, engineering and construction (AEC), games, mobile apps, simulations and real-time 3D.
I have worked in software engineering since 2005 and with Unity and C# since 2012. As a Certified Unity Expert Programmer, I take projects from planning through architecture, development, optimisation and deployment across WebGL, iOS, Android and desktop.
My work covers systems, including Unity development, gameplay, 3D pipelines, native mobile plugins, backend APIs, multiplayer, cloud infrastructure and CI/CD.
AEC, CONSTRUCTION AND REAL-TIME 3D
I build Unity software for architecture, engineering and construction, including:
• Interactive building, home and product configurators
• Real-time architectural visualisation
• Parametric modelling automation and building design automation
• SketchUp extensions using Ruby and the SketchUp Ruby API
• Automated geometry extraction and GLTF export
• Runtime GLTF and GLB model loading in Unity
• GIS and geospatial 3D visualisation
I develop custom SketchUp extensions that automate modelling and export workflows. These tools can inspect model structure, extract geometry and metadata, apply project rules, generate configurable variants and export Unity-ready GLTF assets.
Within Unity, I build systems that load, assemble and control these models at runtime, including materials, colours, dimensions, component options, pricing, camera controls, saved configurations and backend integration.
GAMES, APPS AND SIMULATIONS
My Unity experience includes commercial mobile games, PC and console games, location-based apps, educational software, training simulations, multiplayer systems and virtual environments.
I can assist with:
• Unity gameplay and application development
• Mobile, PC, console and WebGL development
• Educational and training simulations
• Location-based and augmented reality apps
• Multiplayer and server-authoritative systems
• Unity UI, tools and editor extensions
• Performance, memory and app-size optimisation
• Native iOS and Android plugins
• Unity upgrades, technical audits and debugging
GIS, FULL-STACK DEVELOPMENT AND DEVOPS
I have delivered mapping applications using Unity with Mapbox, WRLD and Google Maps, plus Angular with Leaflet, HERE Maps and Esri ArcGIS. Use cases include architectural visualisation, indoor navigation, asset tracking, drone simulation and GeoJSON processing.
For backend and web development, I work with Node.js, Express, PHP, Firebase, MongoDB, AWS, Azure and Google Cloud. I have built APIs, authentication, admin tools, content pipelines, analytics integrations and real-time services.
I build automated pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD and Fastlane, covering Unity builds, mobile signing and distribution, WebGL deployment, release management and build troubleshooting.
SELECTED PROJECTS
• Woodoku Blast, Tripledot Studios: Technical Lead for two years on a commercial mobile puzzle game, covering solution architecture, gameplay systems, native iOS and Android plugins, performance, technical direction and CI/CD.
• WeStretch: A commercial iOS and Android fitness app built with Unity. I worked across solution architecture, full-stack development, Firebase and Node.js services, native integrations, performance and memory optimisation, offline support, app-size reduction, Unity upgrades and CI/CD. I also introduced software standards, supported other developers and helped guide the long-term technical direction.
• Broken Roads: A narrative-driven RPG for PC and consoles developed by Drop Bear Bytes. As Technical Lead from 2019 to 2021, I was responsible for software architecture and development across Unity, C#, Articy Draft, Angular, Firebase, Node.js and internal automation tools. My work covered gameplay, UI, persistence, AI, dialogue, quests, characters, editor tooling, content pipelines and the team's custom CMS. I also provided technical support and training, established development standards and prepared handover documentation for Team17 and The Knights of Unity.
HOW I WORK
I am comfortable leading a complete technical workstream or joining an existing team to solve a specific problem. I can contribute as a senior Unity engineer, technical lead, solution architect, full-stack developer or consultant.
Clients value my ability to understand the commercial goal, identify technical risks early, and explain the options clearly. I care about maintainable code, sensible architecture, realistic estimates, dependable delivery, and clear communication.
