I majored in finance and have a law degree. I have six years’ experience working as a tax attorney for Big Four Accounting Firms, which has taught me to supervise and guide my associates as we juggle multiple deadlines. Because most of my clients have been large financial services institutions with a global reach, I have a strong understanding of the nuances of various financial products and M&A transactions; a skill set which is necessary for determining the appropriate tax treatment and consequences of financial transactions from both a U.S. GAAP and U.S. federal income tax perspective. Through this experience, I have developed a strong working knowledge of FATCA, as many of our investment fund clients have been subject to its provisions. I have also developed a strong understanding of the securities laws applicable to certain investment structures, as I specialized in Regulated Investment Companies for two years and also worked with other investment vehicles subject to securities regulation.
